DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (New York, New York)

Whiting Consulting is searching for a highly-motivated and talented database specialist to join our client’s growing team in downtown Manhattan. They are leveraging the latest and most exciting technologies, and they need the best and brightest people to help them to create the most advanced financial systems in the world. As a database specialist, you will be responsible for building & maintaining a robust, scalable DB architecture and model. You will work with engineers to pinpoint and resolve performance issues and help build their Business Intelligence architecture.

Skills

  • Expert data modeling & database design skills.
  • Experience with database schema creation and management.
  • Performance tuning and optimization including query optimization.
  • DB fault tolerance, scaling & load balancing.
  • Ability to perform capacity planning and load analysis.
  • Define future requirements for envisaged platform evolution.
  • Data replication.
  • Shell scripting.
  • Business Intelligence.
  • Familiarity with ER Design tools.
  • Experience with postgres or other open source dbs a plus.
