PR Account Executive (New York, New York)

Whiting Consulting is searching for an Account Executive for our public relations client located in the New York City area. With strong senses of initiative and accountability, and a primary focus on achieving tactical goals and working with managers to execute on strategic initiatives, Account Executives (AEs) have a vital role in driving consistent visibility and quality results for client accounts. .

Writing

Tactical Activities

  • Has command of AP and Company style
  • Writes action item reports that require little editing
  • Edits colleagues’ work for grammar and typos
  • Develops comprehensive agendas
  • Reviews and edits the work of AFs prior to manager's final review
  • Develops briefing materials that provide significant value beyond Cision/Vocus input
  • Creates compelling speaking and award submissions on behalf of clients
  • Drafts news releases creatively positioning client news and industry trends
  • Edits written material to improve organization and key messages
  • Drafts customer case studies

  • Works with Account Leaders to brainstorm creative ideas/topics for proactive pitches and other written materials
  • Manages AFs on all written documents and manages up to Account Leaders
  • Produces quality drafts of all written materials, including compelling press releases, media alerts, customer case studies, award submissions and speaking abstracts
  • Has an understanding of clients’ key messages and consistently conveys messages in writing

  • Media, Analysts and Industry Influencers

    Tactical Activities

  • Aggressively and proactively manages editorial calendars, updating managers on status of opportunities
  • Maintains a database of press, analyst and industry influencers that is updated consistently and without prompting
  • Has a thorough understanding of target publications, opportunities and contacts
  • Can develop and pitch exclusives to appropriate media contacts
  • Works to foster ongoing relationships with media and analyst contacts
  • Manages joint media activities with clients' partners
  • Can staff media tours and counsel client
  • Regularly scans for and can address industry issues for proactive response
  • Can manage media at tradeshows
  • Edits analyst presentations and ensures key messages and corporate story are presented for analyst consumption
  • Assists on developing media strategies for announcements
  • Regularly recommends new opportunities for team to pitch that map back to clients’ business objectives
